Weekend Spot - Boho Vibes

I love food, trying new things and indulging in new recipes is my kind of fun. But when it comes to critiquing food, I am just not good. For me there is a very thin line between good and okay. That being said, there are two things you should avoid asking my opinion in, how the food tastes? and how the movie was? for me everything is good, if I say it is bad it really has to be bad. An early warning that this is not a restaurant review.</div>

Among the most frequently visited restaurant for me here in Kathmandu is Electric Pagoda, better known as EP. It is located at a quite corner of Thamel tucked away from the hustle bustle. </div>

Ep has a very boho and quirky vibe to it, from the decor to the furnitures and the attitude of the staff there, it is all so chill. I think the open space makes it look very inviting and natural and just the place I want to be when I am on my weekend mode.</div>

Be it lunch, dinner or just some snacks and drinks EP has it all. I specially love their Nachos, Chilli Fries and Managey Momo. Also they do very good burgers, pasta and coffees. When I need to find peace within myself I stuff myself with food and it is worth it every time.<br />
A warning: the photos ahead can make you very hungry! or so I think.<br />

EP is not just a favorite for local but there is also a surplus amount of foreigners who seem to enjoy EP for what it is. It has a very calm yet has a very inviting ambience that I love. I am always there most of my weekends and being Kathmandu I always bump into someone or the other I know and that is always fun.<br />

Among Trailers And Creativity

Kathmandu in the recent years has up its game when it comes to cool joints to hang out at. One such unique place to be is RS Moto, Ghanapokhari. The place has a very industrial and quirky feel to it. With trailers, vintage cars, globe lights, wooden decks and furniture, good coffee and food, it is just my kind of a place to hang out.</div>

Along with good coffee, drinks, food choices and awesome decor, RS Moto also exhibits unique features like a their trailer shop and a motorcycle workshop in their vicinity. Their shop showcases some really cool clothing, accessories and bags and they are all made in Nepal. Also they have some unique helmets and biking gears that goes well with their vintage customized bikes.<br />

I really love the concept of all things unique and RS Moto is just my kind of a thing. Plus if you are interested in vintage and customized bikes or maybe bikers this is the place to hang out at! </div>

Barbecue - Nepali Style

I think most people in Kathmandu and Nepal believe in having a pre Dashian celebration, just to get immersed into the feels of Dashain. One of the most popular idea for a get together among Nepalese is, the old tradition of barbecue. Specially the Dahsian barbecue is accompanyed by libations and of course game of cards, nothing says Dashain and Tihar like a game of cards and delicious food.</div>

The hand at task for a barbecue is, the preparation -the marination of the meat, the shopping, the cleaning of the grill, the making the spicy sauce (aachar) and the of course the process of over eating.</div>

The key to any successful barbecue is the marination of the meats. I have my personal favorite marinade that consists of garlic, ginger, soya sauce, salt, cumin powder, chilli powder and not to forget some whiskey or brandy or rum! </div>

The western way of barbecue is the electric grill but in Nepal we have the Nepalese way of doing it, we use brickets instead. Cooking the meat on brickets is a tad bit slow but the flavor and the smell of firewood while chowing down the piece of meat, is just a cherry on top. </div>

The next phase of preparing for a barbecue is by preparing the sauce or well the 'achar' to go with the meat. Spicy tomato flavored sauce that can be used as a dip for chips as well as a sauce for the bbq. Achar if you didn't know is a staple in every Nepalese household, it is also a part of our every meals. </div>

With all the preparation done it was time to get our hands dirty with the cooking bit. By taking turns we were able to complete our plan of grilling all the meat as well as chomping down all that was cooked.<br />

Just a quick observation, during Dashain people seem to have the craziest appetite, I dont know if it has to do with psychology of being in the festive mood or something else, but it is really note-worthy!</div>

With the greasy delightful barbecue we also spared some time to play some card games, but unfortunately was not able to capture these moments, I blame it on the beer and the irresistible game of - Marriage. </div>

Marriage is a card game that is played specially during the Dashain-Tihar holidays and I well I am not much of a gambler but this game is always interesting - well at least it is as long as you are winning of course.<br />
