I Fell For The Food

Specially considering I get to do two of the my most favorite things in life - working from by bed and traveling. Though they are the most contradicting opposites, it is basically to conclude how weird I can be. </div> </div> <div> <div style="text-align: center;"> <br /></div> </div> <div> <div style="text-align: center;"> Ok, enough of the ramble and getting to the point of this blog post, which is basically to reflect my recent visit to Vietnam. I was in Vietnam for a couple of days following a project I have been engaged in since 2014. Like most of the Asian Cuisine Vietnamese have there version of noodle soup called the PHO. This dish has some of the flavors that I like the most when eating, that charcoal smoked pork, the soft soothing vermicelli noodles, the fresh crunchy spring onion, the sweet, sour and spicy sauce and greens, specially fresh coriander. I tried the fried ones too, unfortunately they were devoured before I could get time for a picture. Whether fresh or fried Vietnamese know their spring roll and they were bomb. And rather than shopping I was business eye-balling all the food there. Home Coming

And visiting Mustang was something that I probably took for granted, like many other things in life. So by tradition, there is a Mela every 12 years and we are bestowed with homage to our otherwise hidden deities. The Mela goes for about 15 days and people from around the region, and Thakali families living all around come to Thini to be a part of it. This is my second time visiting the Mela, and they say that these deities fulfills 1 wish among the 3 grants, that is longevity, family/child or wealth. Since I rarely visit Jomsom or Thini and coming from a mixed family I am hardly exposed to the Thakali side of me. Being raised in a family where my father is a Thakali, mother a Limbu and step-father a Tamang, it was hard to align myself with a cultural identity, but I have come to realize what makes me is a little bit of everything. Finding Happiness

So recently I was to attend an engagement of a dear friend and the only perk was that it was in Pokhara. I had wanted to visit Pokhara in a while and it seemed like the best opportunity to take a break and also to enjoy the company of good old friends.</div> <div style="text-align: center;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: center;"> Growing up I was always surrounded by brothers or guy friends and when your guy friends start to get married that is when your parents start to freak out and keep reminding you of your age and the fact that it is time to settle down. </div> <div style="text-align: center;"> <br /></div> <div style="text-align: center;"> Disregarding all the nagging that I had to hear the idea of Pokhara always make me smile. Late night and a serene morning is how Pokhara is to be enjoyed. The best part of traveling away from Kathmandu is, the clarity. The sharpness in the scenery changes as soon as we exit the capital city. But the picture does no justice to how beautiful the sky looked at dusk. Bostonian Summer

I was hoping for sunshine and tans while all I initially got was cold and wind, eventually the weather did get better.</span></div> <br /> <div style="text-align: center;"> Regardless of the weather we did manage to have a very eventful family time after what seems to be ages.
